Benefits of spending time outdoor

Spending time outdoor is very beneficial for mental and physical health. It is no doubt difficult for us to schedule a time for going out in the nature. But managing time for this would be very rewarding. Some people like spending time inside, playing video games and watching TV or movies. But time in nature is crucial for a positive mind set and emotional balance. It can prepare you for work. Nature is a medicine itself. So, you can get benefits from it and can enjoy your time as well.

Let’s consider few things that can change if we spend time outdoors.

1. Reduce depression and stress:

Rush hour is very tough for all of us to make ends meet. All of us are working hard for a better living. This struggle sometimes makes us so stressed and depress that doing daily task seem difficult to us. This happens with everyone. We all are part of a cycle that faces such situation many many times. This can hinder our ability to learn new things and make us feel low about ourselves. Many studies reveal that people who spend more time close to the nature are less likely to have stress issues. Spending more time in nature helps us to release harmful compounds from our bodies and reduce the stress.




2. Better breathing:

Modern technology has made life much easier and fast but it also has bad impacts on our environment. Automobiles had made air polluted. In many parts of the world air pollution has raised to an alarming level. But we still can manage to enjoy fresh air if we chose right time and spot. In the early morning air quality is quite better. While out in the early morning breath deeply and this will surely improve your lungs health. It can reduce the risk of respiratory disorders like cough, asthma and so on.

3. Improves sleep:

Having a full and sound sleep is very important for health. Healthy life style does not only mean a balanced diet and doing exercise. It also includes proper rest. Like a machine our bodies need proper rest. Otherwise like parts of a machinery our bodies will worn out before time and this can lead to serious health issues. Experts say that proper sleep is about 8 hours daily. No matter what your schedule is, make sure to sleep at least 6 hours daily. This will also help to reduce the stress and we will be healthy and can start fresh each day.




4. Motivation to Exercise:

Getting up from your bed or chair or putting away your phone for the sake of exercise is most difficult thing to do. Once you start doing that you actually start your journey towards the success and fitness goals. Spending out door time can help in this regard. If we are out door like in a park or in the woods we are motivated to walk or run or do a quick game with friends and family. Or this can include just walking around and admiring the nature.

5. Mental Health:

Mental health is important like physical health. We often ignore our mental health even if we follow all steps for good health – like daily workout routine and balanced diet – but we forget to relax ourselves mentally and show less interest in doing something about it. This results difficulty in taking decisions and mood swings and behavioral problems. All this can have an impact on our personal life, family life and our job.  Working on our mental health is crucial.

 Never ignore the signs that indicate the need to work on it. Taking a walk outside helps us to ponder on our daily routine and decisions. We can admire little things and nature which can have a great positive impact on out attitude and thus our mental health will improve. Research shows that the animal sounds, wind sounds and other natural sounds are related to lower stress level. This increase our joy and reduce even pain.




6. Boost immune functions:

Out door time can affect our immune functions in a positive way. Working 9 to 5 for 5 or more days a week and eating junk food is part of our daily routine. Researches say that this reduce the functions of our immune system. We find it difficult to cope with minor health issues on our own. We may need medical assistance for all these things. But nature has made us in such a spectacular way that we can cope with certain problems even without a medicine.

To make our immune system strong we need to make sure that we are feeding our immune system good food and allow it to refresh itself by spending time outdoors. This can boost our ability to fight germs and illness. Fresh air and greenery can strengthen our body and, in the process, our immune system got healthier and healthier. Like a certain dose of beneficial bacteria, fresh air can reduce the stress on our digestive system and relaxes us.


7.   Time in sun boost Vit D level:

We all are aware that vitamins are essential for us. We cannot make Vitamins in our body. We have to eat foods that have vitamins or take supplements to fulfill the need. But our skin can make Vitamin D in the Sun. Vitamin D is important for strong bones and teeth. Not just that it can also help our muscles, nerves and immune system.

50 % of the people do not get enough sunshine to make vitamin D in the body. Our body can not make Vit D when sunlight is filtered through the window. So, exposing our skin to sunlight is very beneficial but remember to apply sun screen before you are exposed to more UV rays as it can leads to skin problems and even skin cancer.
